I swear it happens every time.
So what does that mean? Well, it means I’ve got back to the original design and tweaked it a bit. Yes, there are a few things added to it (jump drive and subspace drive), but I’ve also yanked away some stuff (NPCs flying around willy nilly, like they’ve got nothing to do but look pretty).
Why? Well, it goes back to a saying I saw a lot of in cooking competitions on The Food Network. Yes, I watch The Food Network.
“If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on the plate!”
So there’s no point in this game of putting NPC ships out there the player won’t be able to interact with and/or destroy. It’s fluff and it’s a distraction.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I can still totally use that FSM (Finite State Machine) code, and at some point I’m going to utlize the NPCs flying around doing mindless shit…just not in Sector Defector. It doesn’t fit the dynamic.
Progress
- Redesigning based on the original design.
- Setup a Notion board with all the deets and shit.
